Hyundai E&C has published its “2026 Sustainability Report,” outlining the company’s sustainability performance and strategies in response to global ESG disclosure requirements. The report incorporates major domestic and international sustainability disclosure standards, including those of the Korea Sustainability Standards Board (KSSB), the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).
To enhance the reliability and accuracy of sustainability information, Hyundai E&C established internal control processes covering the entire process, from ESG data collection and verification to reporting and disclosure. The company standardized its ESG data management guidelines and utilized its ESG IT system, H-SYNC, to improve data consistency and management efficiency.
Hyundai E&C has outlined the management systems and achievements tied to three key issues - ▲occupational safety and health, ▲quality management, and ▲climate change response – identified through a double materiality assessment. The report details the risks, opportunities, and response strategies for each, spanning expanded investment in safety management, enhanced customer satisfaction in quality, and implementation of the company's 2045 net zero roadmap.
On the environmental front, the company is accelerating investment in eco-friendly businesses and its transition to a low-carbon society. Hyundai E&C is expanding its business portfolio around future energy sectors, including offshore wind power, pumped-storage hydropower, hydrogen and ammonia, nuclear power, and small modular reactors (SMRs). The company is also strengthening its eco-friendly investment capabilities to support sustainable growth, securing project funding for renewable energy and other initiatives through the issuance of KRW 310 billion in green bonds and the promotion of KRW 779.7 billion in green procurement.
In the social sector, the report captures achievements related to expanded safety and health investment and win-win growth with local communities. Hyundai E&C is strengthening its disaster-prevention capabilities through the adoption of smart safety technologies and the advancement of its occupational safety and health (OSH) management system, while also actively pursuing community-focused social contribution activities centered on domestic worksites that reflect local needs and characteristics. Last year, in recognition of its contribution to community development, the company earned the top grade (S) for the third consecutive year in the Community Social Contribution Recognition Program co-organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare.
In the governance sector, the report emphasized efforts to strengthen a board-centered responsible management system. Hyundai E&C is reinforcing the board's independence and oversight functions through the introduction of a Lead Independent Director system and the operation of an independent board, and it is continuously advancing its governance framework by conducting board self-evaluations alongside assessments by external expert institutions. The company also earned an Outstanding (AA) grade in the Fair Trade Compliance Program (CP) for the second consecutive year and is solidifying its foundation for responsible management by operating an anti-bribery management system (ISO 37001) and an information security management system (ISO 27001).
Hyundai E&C’s ESG competitiveness has been recognized by leading domestic and international rating agencies. The company has maintained world-class ESG performance, earning an overall “A” rating from the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability for eight consecutive years, being named to the CDP Korea Hall of Fame for eight consecutive years, remaining in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 16 consecutive years, and receiving an “A” rating from MSCI ESG Ratings.
