Hyundai E&C Becomes First to Surpass KRW 10 Trillion in Urban Redevelopment Orders

Hyundai E&C announced on Monday, December 1st, that by securing the construction rights for the Jangwi District 15 Housing Redevelopment Project, it has become the first construction company in Korea’s history to surpass KRW 10 trillion in annual urban redevelopment orders.

Hyundai E&C secured 11 consecutive urban redevelopment projects this year, recording an annual order value of KRW 10.5 trillion. This monumental achievement surpasses its previous all-time record of KRW 9.3395 trillion, set in 2022, by over KRW 1 trillion, making Hyundai E&C the first Korean construction company to join the ranks of the 'KRW 10 Trillion Urban Redevelopment Club.'

At the same time, the company claimed the title of the 'Triple Crown of Urban Redevelopment Orders': ▲First in the industry to surpass KRW 10 trillion in annual orders, ▲Breaking the all-time annual order record, and ▲Securing the No. 1 position in the industry for seven consecutive years (2019-2025).

Hyundai E&C's successful undertaking of major, high-value projects in Seoul was instrumental in achieving this unprecedented record. Hyundai E&C single-handedly secured multi-trillion-won projects without a consortium, including the KRW 2.7489 trillion Seoul Apgujeong District 2 Reconstruction, Gaepo Jugong Complex 6 & 7, and Jangwi District 15. In addition, the company solidified its portfolio by securing large-scale projects centered on major provincial cities like Busan and Jeonju.

The cumulative urban redevelopment order value for the top 10 Korean construction companies this year is estimated at approximately KRW 50 trillion, nearly double the amount from the previous year. Major construction firms engaged in increasingly intense competition for these core project sites.

Hyundai E&C's exceptional order record in the urban redevelopment sector this year is attributed to its comprehensive competitive edge that transcends mere construction capability, encompassing brand premium, financial competitiveness, and project management capabilities.

The brand premium of Hyundai E&C's THE H and HILLSTATE brands has been proven in large-scale projects through pre-construction sales and asset value. The company is firmly cementing its position as a leader in the housing sector by providing optimal residential solutions, including advanced technology, equipment, and differentiated services.

In a market characterized by high interest rate volatility, financial competitiveness is also a core factor driving the choice of the new residential complex associations. Hyundai E&C has demonstrated a strong advantage in minimizing the burden of relocation and project financing by presenting tailored financial solutions based on its stable capital procurement capabilities.

Furthermore, the company’s integrated consulting, which encompasses licensing, design, landscaping, community facilities, and smart homes, coupled with a systematic project management system through dedicated teams for each site, is recognized as Hyundai E&C's unrivaled project management capability.

A Hyundai E&C official stated, “The company’s success in the urban redevelopment market is the result of our residential philosophy and competitiveness being recognized by residential complex association members.” The official added, “We will strengthen our order-winning strategy, focusing on massive-scale projects like Apgujeong District 3, lead the residential housing paradigm, and expand further into future growth sectors.”

Following the unveiling of 'NEO LIVING,' its next-generation residential solution that synchronizes technology and sensibility, Hyundai E&C is also accelerating its presence in new business areas to proactively respond to changes in the housing market. The company launched THE NEW HOUSE, an industry-first new business project that enhances the residential environment and value of apartment buildings in a complex without relocation or demolition, and has signed a business agreement with the HILLSTATE 2 Complex in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
