Hyundai E&C is presenting a new paradigm for future housing by establishing Korea's first demonstration and research facility featuring advanced healthcare technology.
On Monday, November 28th, Hyundai E&C announced that it had established a demonstration facility for its future-oriented health-centric housing, the ‘All-Life-Care House,’ at its R&D Center in Yongin. The company stated that it is accelerating research for commercialization of related technologies by ensuring the facility is equipped with advanced equipment and staffed by a professional team of specialists.
The All-Life-Care House is a residential model being developed by Hyundai E&C that integrates healthcare technology. It provides ▲ a ‘Wellness Solution’ for managing sleep, exercise, and mental well-being; ▲ a ‘Medical Solution’ for responding to emergencies in connection with hospitals; and ▲ a ‘Health Living Solution’ that helps to create an optimal living environment by adjusting not only temperature and humidity but also air, water, and light. Hyundai E&C has also built a model apartment unit under conditions identical to a real living environment to conduct research that is closely aligned with actual daily life.
Through this demonstration facility, Hyundai E&C is developing and verifying a diverse range of 'Well-Life' solutions. These include specialized care for each space, such as ▲ ‘sleep care’ in the bedroom and ▲ an emergency response system for the bathroom and throughout the entire residence, as well as ▲ a ‘clean-living environment’ that fosters a pleasant residential ambiance, ▲ medical care including telemedicine, and ▲ ‘exercise care’ with AI-driven analytics and coaching.
In addition, the company is developing a solution that uses motion-detecting sensors to automatically send an alert to a medical center in case of an emergency, such as a fall or cardiac arrest. Another solution being developed monitors movement and heart rate during sleep to detect early warning signs of health issues. A service that recommends personalized exercise routines will also be added, with the prospect of providing proactive care within the home to extend the healthy lifespan of residents.
Moreover, the demonstration facility will also feature a smart sleep environment solution that precisely monitors residents' sleep patterns and controls the environment to promote deep sleep, as part of efforts to commercialize more advanced technology, through joint validation and clinical trials with independent professional institutions. The company has also recently been expanding its cooperation with promising Korean tech startups, such as by laying the groundwork for research and development of a smart sleep residential environment with the sleep-tech startup Asleep.
A Hyundai E&C official noted, “Amid recent rapid societal changes, such as Korea’s emergence as a super-aged society and the increase in single-person households, the role of the home is evolving beyond mere housing to a provider of hyper-personalized care.” The official added, “We will realize a wellness-promoting living environment that safeguards the health of residents with a wide range of healthcare solutions, and we plan to introduce high-end residential products to projects such as Seoul’s Apgujeong district redevelopment initiative that increase the fundamental value of residential spaces by incorporating innovation.”
As part of its efforts to advance the technology for realizing future-oriented health-centric housing, Hyundai E&C plans to set new standards for next-generation smart residential models by expanding its AI and bio-based ecosystems for future home-related services.
