Hyundai E&C is to make equity investment in TENELEVEN Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Ho-young) specialized in AI-based 3D design solution to enhance competitiveness based on proactive introduction of smart construction technologies.
Founded in 2014, TENELEVEN is specialized in AI-based automatic construction design service that offers an optimal design for public housing through analysis of the site’s terrain and prospects and architectural laws and is expanding its business for construction companies, design companies and developers.
Hyundai E&C acquired 6% of TENELVEN’s total stakes, and other companies like VAIV Company Co., Ltd. and Hoban Construction Co., Ltd. also acquired stakes.
The decision was part of the “2025 Strategy” announced by Hyundai E&C last October, which aims to enhance the company’s mid-to-long term competitiveness and implement new businesses through proactive and strategic investments in construction-related startups.
Hyundai E&C plans to strengthen its competitive edge in designing and selling apartments by jointly developing “AI-based 3D automatic design system” with TENELEVEN.
Hyundai E&C will fully leverage this technology for order intake and sales of THE H and Hillstate which are the company’s public housing brands and proactively secure green building design technologies such as optimal layout of in-complex photovoltaic power generation.
Hyundai E&C also plans to implement projects using automatic design solution in modular housing as well, which involves manufacturing housing materials and parts at a factory and then assembling the units on site, thereby seeking to develop new businesses to secure future growth engines.
Moreover, the company, based on ICT convergence among Hyundai E&C (construction company)- Hyundai Architects & Engineers Assoc. (design company) and TENELENV (IT company), is expected to play a leading role in shifting the manpower-centered construction/design paradigm into that of Ai-based automatic design.
A Hyundai E&C official explained that, “equity investment in a start-up will allow Hyundai E&C to proactively introduce and rapidly spread smart construction technologies to secure its competitiveness and new growth drivers,” adding that “Hyundai E&C will continue to identify and invest in startups highly qualified in smart construction and new businesses.”
